Although trained as an educational scientist, I have been devoting myself to painting for many years. After working for a considarable time in acrylic, I decided to take lessons in classical oil painting at the Academy Renshof in Nijmegen. This to master the traditional painting of the old masters. I prefer to paint on wood panel.

Using 17th century techniques, I have developed a style of my own that is looser, modern-realistic in nature. My paintings can be seen as atmospheric descriptions of architectural beauty, typically depicting the exteriors and interiors of characteristic buildings. I enjoy playing with the modalities of light and space, occasionally adding a touch of mystery and drama to stir up the imagination. My work has a wide variety of tone, color and shadow, yet each painting carries my specific signature.
